Toyland

A mother steps into her son Heinrich's room to find his bed empty. The neighbor's door, marked with a Star of David, stands ajar, the apartment inside ransacked and abandoned. A frantic search begins—questions to passersby, a desperate plea at the police station, a dash to the rail yard. Flashbacks reveal Heinrich and his friend Paul, both six, playing innocently. Knowing Paul's family faces deportation, Heinrich's mother told her son they were going to 'Toyland.' Believing the tale, the boy packed his bag. Now, he may have joined them. Her resolve hardens into a race against the looming train.
