🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The director constructs the narrative as a moral parable, exploring the limits of bushido at a moment of historical collapse. He relies on the contrast between characters, using their choices to interrogate concepts of honor, betrayal, and the instinct to survive.
What lingers after the viewing is a harsh, unromantic look at the fate of the defeated, where action is merely a backdrop for existential drama. The result is a grim but cohesive examination of the samurai myth's dark side. — MovieFinder Editorial
