A Year Along the Abandoned Road
Børfjord, a deserted fishing village in Northern Norway, rests within magnificent Arctic landscapes. For most of the year, virgin snow fills the spaces between cold, empty houses, with people appearing only during a brief, hectic summer season. Yet nature's cycles persist independently, as they always have. Filmed in 70mm Super Panavision using a specially developed "nature animation" technique, this work is a magical, single-shot flight along the remnants of a village road. In just twelve minutes, an entire year passes at 50,000 times normal speed, compressing seasons into a breathtaking visual poem.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
A profound meditation on time itself, where nature is the sole timekeeper. The year-long single shot blurs the line between cinema and painting, between document and dream.
What lingers after viewing is a deep sense of awe for the silent, majestic cycles that continue with or without us. The film leaves a quiet imprint of the world's enduring, patient beauty. — MovieFinder Editorial
Director: Morten Skallerud

The perpetual crawl of light on wooden walls, the silent ticking of natural clocks, ice's held breath and summer's fleeting bloom.
