El Keif

Hashim, a young Egyptian from a poor Cairo neighborhood, stumbles into the world of hashish trafficking. His naive curiosity swiftly gives way to a deep immersion in the dangerous hierarchy of dealers and users, where every transaction teeters between comedy and tragedy. The film paints a vivid, almost documentary-like portrait of 1980s Cairo streets, where desperation and poverty drive people to seek solace in the 'kayf'. The plot unfolds as a series of absurd and grim situations, intertwining the fates of a policeman looking for easy money, a street philosopher, and a petty thief.
