🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a classic fable about temptation and wonder, relying on Méliès' signature theatrical sets and trick photography that was pioneering for 1909. The magical production of gold before our eyes serves as the central visual attraction of early silent cinema.

What lingers after viewing is a charming journey to the roots of screen fantasy, where narrative simplicity is outweighed by the pure magic of illusion and a pioneer's inventiveness. — MovieFinder Editorial
