🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a potent moral dilemma against the backdrop of social upheaval. Griffith relies on expressive, concise imagery to contrast hypocritical safety with the peril born from an act of mercy itself.

What lingers after viewing is a stark lesson about betrayal and the futility of disguises when history's tide turns. The ending delivers a swift, ironic justice that feels both brutal and inevitable. — MovieFinder Editorial
