The Cheese Mites, or Lilliputians in a London Restaurant

He has just finished his meal and the waiter brings a glass of beer, and when he places the glass upon the table, lo, a little sailor boy about six inches high appears from the foam, and climbing down the side of the glass, proceeds to dance a sailor's hornpipe on the table.

The film constructs its fantasy through a straightforward trick shot, planting a magical occurrence in a mundane setting. It relies on a static frame, directing all focus to the miraculous emergence from the beer glass.
What lingers after viewing is a sense of whimsical charm, a brief escape into a world where foam conjures dancing sailors. It's a simple, cheerful deception for the eyes. — MovieFinder Editorial
