Industrial Britain

1931 · 21 min Documentary
5.4 / 10 · TMDB

Grierson set out to make "propaganda," and this film--with it's voice-over proclaiming the great value of the British industrial worker, without a hint of ambiguity or doubt--fits that category well. The authoritatarian narrator feels out-of-date and unsophisticated, but the footage is well shot and interesting, and the transparency of the propaganda aspect is almost a reflief at a time when so many films have hidden agendas.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Industrial Britain is an acquired taste at 5.4/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A classic from 1931. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
