He dismisses it as a macabre prank until people start vanishing across the city—each disappearance leaving only a mannequin dressed in their clothes at the scene. Forced to partner with cynical coroner Alice, who sees nothing but a series of elaborate suicides, Reed's investigation plunges him into the competitive world of window display design. Behind the glittering facades lies a network of underground auctions where the line between art and atrocity blurs. The closer they get to the truth, the more mannequins appear in their own homes—silent witnesses who seem to know more about the detective than he knows himself.
