Clara, a young Parisian, inherits a bizarre collection from her aunt: dozens of boxes containing dusty perfume bottles labeled "Perlimpinpin." Along with them comes a cryptic note: "Only you can understand their true scent." Desperate to pay her mortgage, Clara decides to sell the collection as antiques, but she accidentally discovers that each vial holds the story of one of her eccentric relative's unfulfilled loves. Now, she must not only find buyers but stage an entire performance, pretending to be an expert in perfumery to unravel the secrets of the past and perhaps find her own path. Her accomplice is shy librarian Antoine, who knows more about fragrances than about his own feelings. Their adventure turns into a series of absurd encounters with collectors, fraudsters, and lonely romantics, where each bottle becomes a ticket to the past, and lies become the only way to tell the truth.
