Maria hat Angst

Maria, a teacher in a provincial German town, finds a pistol in a student's locker. The cold, foreign object in her hands sets off a chain of events where the lines between care and interference, protection and betrayal, begin to blur. She doesn't report it to the police, attempting to handle the situation herself, but each effort to help only makes things worse. An atmosphere of distrust thickens around Maria: colleagues look at her sideways, parents whisper behind her back, and the girl who owns the weapon remains silent. The film examines the fragility of social bonds and how a single misstep can dismantle a reputation built over years. The director avoids easy answers, leaving the viewer with unsettling questions about morality in a world where violence has become mundane.
