Alexei, a theoretical physicist, gains access to an experimental protocol that allows him to observe alternate versions of his own life. His obsession with finding the "best" path leads to paradoxical consequences as the boundaries between realities begin to blur. Together with his colleague Elena, he tries to understand the rules of a new world where every decision spawns a new branch of existence.
