The Great Canadian Puberty Rite

1974 · 21 min

This lyrical film diary chronicles a westward “pilgrimage” Stephen made, together with her partner John Cressey, at the end of her studies in Montreal, in the summer of ’74. As she contemplates the impetus for the journey, her camera surveys a variety of side-of-the-road attractions, snowy mountain vistas, and grassy knolls studded with cheerful fellow roadtrippers.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The Great Canadian Puberty Rite is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A classic from 1974. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
