Destroy This Tape

"Destroy this tape" are the final words on the VHS cassette Emily finds in the basement of her new apartment. Dismissing it as a dark joke, she plays it, only to have her reality begin to subtly glitch. The tape operates on a sinister rule: each viewing causes its recorded events to manifest in the real world, escalating in violence with every replay. Teaming up with her neighbor, a former film editor, Emily races to decode the tape's origin before its narrative completely overwrites their own lives. They discover the horror isn't in what the tape shows, but in what it writes—editing their pasts and futures frame by frame. The search becomes a meta-textual nightmare where the medium is the monster.
