Lucas, an ordinary schoolboy from Amsterdam, accidentally discovers an ancient blueprint in his grandfather's basement. The yellowed paper contains a schematic of a mechanical horse that, according to family legend, can come to life. Together with his inventor sister Mia, they embark on a quest for parts across the Netherlands—from the windmills of Kinderdijk to the underground canals of Utrecht. They are pursued by an eccentric collector desperate to acquire the artifact for his private exhibition.
