The Bridge

1959 · 103 min Drama History War
7.5 / 10 · TMDB

A group of German boys are ordered to protect a small bridge in their home village during the waning months of the second world war. Truckloads of defeated, cynical Wehrmacht soldiers flee the approaching American troops, but the boys, full of enthusiasm for the "blood and honor" Nazi ideology, stay to defend the useless bridge. The film is based on a West German anti-war novel of the same name, written by Gregor Dorfmeister.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The Bridge is a very strong film rated 7.5/10. Great direction and performances make this one well worth adding to your watchlist.

A high rating speaks for itself — this film found its audience and didn't let them down. Trust the collective taste.

A classic from 1959. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: any evening when you want quality cinema with no compromises.
