Maasai Cross
Kim Minsu, a former marathon champion, now works as a courier in Seoul. His life is an endless climb up high-rise staircases, a race against the clock. Everything changes when he accidentally meets Joseph, a refugee from South Sudan who was once a Maasai warrior. Their conversation on the roof of an abandoned warehouse is more than just talk between two weary men; it's a collision of two worlds. Joseph speaks of the adam, a ritual jumping ceremony symbolizing the transition to adulthood, which he never completed. This story forces Minsu to re-examine his own failures. Together, they begin training for a city marathon, not for victory, but as a modern rite of passage. Their training runs through industrial zones, parks, and wastelands, transforming Seoul into a savannah for a new ritual. The film explores how to find meaning and dignity in a world where traditional values are erased by globalization.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
Director Park Chan-wook constructs the narrative on a contrast between static, almost documentary-like shots of urban routine and sudden bursts of poetic visual language, where an ordinary staircase transforms into a mountain slope.
What lingers after the credits is the quiet realization that the finish line is less important than the courage to begin. Anyone ready for a film where the real race is internal will find a profound companion here. — MovieFinder Editorial
