Two Stage Sisters

Two orphaned girls, Chunhua and Yuehong, are taken in by a traveling troupe of traditional Chinese opera performers. Under the stern yet caring guidance of a master actress, they hone their craft, their raw talent slowly transforming into artistry. The stage sisters journey from the muddy village platforms to the glittering theaters of Shanghai, their bond forged in shared hardship and triumph. Yet, the spotlight's glow cannot shield them from the harsh realities of a society in flux, where personal ambition, romantic entanglements, and the gathering storm of revolution threaten to pull them apart.
