Hippo's Revenge

Mark, a disgraced biologist, gets a chance at redemption when he's assigned to monitor a rare pygmy hippopotamus at a private wildlife reserve. The first days proceed smoothly, until a strange grinding noise echoes from the enclosure at night. By morning, Mark finds the fence torn apart and tracks leading into the dense forest. His supervisor, Dr. Elsie, insists the creature is harmless, but locals whisper about an ancient curse and missing tourists. When a security guard vanishes from the camp—leaving only a puddle of murky water and the imprint of an enormous paw—Mark realizes the animal didn't escape. It's begun to hunt. His investigation leads to the old diary of the reserve's founder, detailing rituals and sacrifices meant to appease the 'god of the marshes.' Now, Mark must survive and prevent the awakening of what was meant to sleep forever.
