Álvaro Retana opens a folder of archival photographs from the 1920s. His fingers trace the faces of dancers, the posters of forgotten revues, the letters he wrote under a female pseudonym. In Madrid under the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, this writer and composer created a world of cabaret and drag shows while concealing his homosexuality. The 2025 documentary explores the life of a forgotten icon of Spanish culture, whose work was erased first by the Falangists and then by postwar censorship. The director reconstructs not only a biography but also the atmosphere of an underground artistic community where art was a form of resistance. Through interviews with researchers, rare archival footage, and readings from diaries, the viewer is immersed in the story of a man who risked everything for the right to be himself.
