Reclaim the Flag

A flag meant to unite has become a symbol of fracture. This documentary focuses not on politicians or historians, but on ordinary people for whom the national symbol has turned into personal trauma or a subject of fierce debate. The director's camera follows a provincial teacher trying to explain the tricolor's meaning to a class where half the families have lost relatives at the front. Simultaneously, we see a young activist painting over flags on municipal buildings and a veteran who flies one on his balcony daily despite neighbors' threats. The film offers no answers but documents a fissure running through courtyards, families, and individual souls.
