Dance the Kung Fu
Li Zhen, a Shanghai choreographer, accepts a peculiar commission: create a dance for a private showing in an old theatre. The client insists on incorporating movements from an ancient wushu style, said in legends to summon demons. "The dance must be completed before dawn," whispers the intermediary before vanishing into an alley. Rehearsals descend into nightmare—studio mirrors reflect more than just the dancers, and shadows move with a will of their own. When a performer disappears, Li Zhen realizes she is learning not a routine, but a ritual, with her own body as the final component. Her search for truth unveils a cult that has thrived for centuries in the underbelly of the film industry, where art is the ultimate sacrifice.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
Director Jiang Wei crafts suspense through the stark contrast between fluid choreography and the jarring, almost documentary-like editing of the horror sequences. The camera acts as an invisible dance partner, then transforms into a witness to the nightmare breaking into reality.
Anyone ready for a hybrid of psychological thriller and supernatural horror, where the aesthetics of contemporary dance become the syntax for an ancient evil, will find it here. What lingers after is the blurred line between artistic obsession and literal possession. — MovieFinder Editorial
