JESTER
Anton returns to his hometown after years away to fulfill his father's final wish: to play the jester at the local festival. The town, frozen in its Soviet past, greets him with cold silence and unspoken judgment. Each day of preparation for the performance becomes a painful journey into a childhood filled with buried resentments and family secrets. The 2025 drama explores themes of fatherhood, duty, and the impossibility of outrunning one's own history. The film transforms a personal story into a universal parable about the masks we wear to conceal pain, and how sometimes one must become a fool to finally find freedom.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
The director constructs the narrative on the contrast between the bright, almost carnivalesque aesthetics of the festival and the harsh, grey reality of provincial life. The camera often remains static, observing the protagonist from a distance, like one of the townspeople.
Those who appreciate slow-burning character studies will find a poignant exploration of memory and reconciliation here. What lingers is the quiet weight of unspoken words. — MovieFinder Editorial
