An Abundance of Dunes
Sergeant Zhang is ordered to escort a captured Japanese pilot across the Gobi Desert to the rear. Instead of a proper convoy—just two soldiers, one tied-up officer, and endless sand. Their journey becomes an absurd marathon where the real enemies aren't shells, but heat, thirst, and a complete lack of landmarks. "We can't kill him, orders are orders," Zhang mutters as his subordinate Li tries to barter bullets with nomads for water. Gradually, the military operation derails, morphing into a survival farce where the roles of guards and prisoner begin to blur under the scorching sun.
