Mirasol, a young woman from a provincial Philippine town, receives a letter from the mother she hasn't seen since childhood. Instead of the expected invitation to Manila, she finds only an old photograph and a one-way bus ticket. Her decision to stay sets off a chain of events: the local history teacher begins writing a book about the forgotten women of their region, and the neighbor's son, who dreams of being a musician, dedicates a song to her that no one will ever hear.
