Bimo
Bimo, a ten-year-old boy from an Indonesian village, walks miles across scorched earth every day to carry a heavy jug of water to school. His father, a stone carver, chips away at rock to shape figures of ancestors, while his mother whispers prayers over smoldering coals. In a classroom of forty children sharing one tattered book, the teacher writes a single word in chalk on the blackboard: 'Future.' One day, Bimo finds a strange, shimmering stone in a dried-up riverbed—a discovery that will upend not only his life but that of the entire community, dividing it between those who see opportunity and those who see a curse. The film explores the fragile line between tradition and progress, childhood hope and adult cynicism against the arid landscapes of East Java.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
Director Kamila Andini employs static, painterly frames where nature is a full character, and time flows to the rhythm of village life rather than editorial cuts.
Anyone ready for a gradual, immersive journey into a world where every gesture and object holds symbolic weight, and generational conflict resolves not through dialogue but through silent understanding. — MovieFinder Editorial
