Klara, a department store manager in Berlin, is ordered to lay off half her staff a week before Christmas. "If we don't cut costs, the entire section will close," her boss tells her. But when she discovers the list includes an elderly window dresser who's created magic for thirty years and a young single mother, Klara decides to break the rules. Instead of terminations, she secretly organizes a Christmas market run by the employees, risking her own career. Her plan is complicated by the sudden arrival of corporate auditor Thomas—attractive yet uncompromising—who is there to inspect the books. As the market preparations unfold, an unexpected tension grows between them, while staff members reveal hidden talents.
