Gabriele d'Annunzio stands on a balcony proclaiming himself ruler of the Free State of Fiume. His speeches ignite the crowd while eccentric decrees—from mandatory singing to laws about love—transform the city into a theater of the absurd. This 2025 documentary comedy experiment explores the boundaries between politics and performance, revolution and carnival. Through archival footage, animation, and ironic commentary, the director shows how the poet-adventurer created a utopia for several months where art became law and reality dissolved into myth.
