The Comic Shop

Michael, the owner of a comic book shop on the city's fringe, has watched the neighborhood slowly die for a decade. His only regulars are Ethan, a teenager hiding from school bullies, and elderly Mrs. Green, who buys the same issue of 'Superman' every month. When a major chain announces plans for a megastore two blocks away, Michael knows it's the end. But Ethan's unexpected proposal—to host a board game tournament in the shop—offers a ghost of a chance. The film explores the fragility of the small worlds we build and the unlikely bonds that form in the most unexpected places. The director avoids grand gestures, favoring quiet observations of how personal stories intertwine beneath the creak of old shelves and the scent of fresh printer's ink.
