Gen. George S. Patton now works a desk job for the U.S. military after World War II. In the midst of dealing with the difficulty of adapting to his dramatic change of lifestyle, Patton is involved in an auto wreck that leaves him in critical condition. While his body fails him, Patton introspectively reminisces about his relationship with his spouse, Beatrice; his childhood; and his days on the WWI battlefields.

The film presents an intimate, psychological portrait of a legendary general at his most vulnerable. It shifts focus from battlefield glory to inner demons and personal tragedy, exploring a man forced to confront his own helplessness.
What lingers after the credits is a profound sense of fate's irony, as the warrior loses his final battle not in combat, but in a struggle with his failing body. — MovieFinder Editorial
