Blue Sea
Li Jun returns to his native fishing village after a decade in the city. His father has died, leaving only an old boat and debts as inheritance. Instead of selling everything and leaving, Li begins restoring the vessel, puzzling his neighbors. Gradually, his stubbornness unveils old family secrets and conflicts with his brother. The 2026 drama explores the rift between traditional ways and the modern world through the metaphor of the sea. The director employs a minimalist visual language where silence and emptiness become full-fledged characters. Filmed on the coast of the Yellow Sea with non-professional actors from local communities.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
Director Wang Xiaoshuai composes each frame like a painted canvas, where every element—from fishing nets to the horizon—carries narrative weight. Extended static shots create a sensation of decelerated time, characteristic of life in remote settlements.
A perfect match for contemplating roots and personal choice in a world where the past persistently catches up with the present. — MovieFinder Editorial
