In the Land of Arto

Arto returns to his native village after years away. His father is dying, leaving behind only an old house and unspoken resentments. Instead of the expected peace, the protagonist confronts ghosts of the past: silent neighbors, half-forgotten childhood wounds, and land that no longer feels like home. Each day in this place becomes an ordeal — quiet kitchen conversations, long walks through fields, encounters with people whose lives have frozen in time. The film explores not so much a plot as the state of a person caught between two worlds: the one he left and the one he cannot return to. The slow rhythm of rural life exposes inner conflicts, while the camera captures the slightest changes in the hero's expression, his hesitant gestures, and pauses filled with the unspoken.
