The Vampires of Poverty

Two filmmakers prowl the impoverished slums of Bogotá and Cali, hunting for images of abjection. Their mission is to harvest enough despair for a documentary commissioned by German television. With clinical detachment, they seek out poverty, coaxing residents to perform their misery for the lens. Yet another camera silently captures these 'vampire' directors, feeding off the marginalization of their subjects. The film becomes a sharp meta-inquiry into documentary ethics, where the line between observer and exploiter dissolves completely.
