Archaeologist Lia Mars discovers not an artifact on Mars, but a living being in a cryochamber. Upon awakening, it calls itself the Keeper and asks to be taken to the polar caps. The crew of the ship 'Prometheus' is divided: Captain Reed sees a threat, biologist Chen sees a scientific sensation, and Lia feels a strange connection to the being. Their journey to the pole becomes a race against the corporation 'TerraForm', which wants to seize the find. Beneath the ice cap, a portal to a parallel reality opens, where Martian civilization did not perish but evolved. The Keeper turns out to be the key to a dialogue between worlds, but the price of contact is a revision of all human history.
