Yellow SubmarYAN

2002 · 16 min Animation Music

Four characters sing while on an animated odyssey in a yellow spaceship. Through their adventures they explore the idea of how western culture and media had begun to permeate Armenia in the 90's and 00's. While romanticizing classic Armenian folklore and, to an extent, the Soveit era in Armenia. The era in which director Robert Sahakyants lived most of his life.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Yellow SubmarYAN is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A 2002 film from an era before CGI overload, with real performances that still hit hard. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
