🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a classic melodrama against a backdrop of property and class conflict, relying on the contrast between American practicality and European conventions. The plot explores familiar territory of lost fortunes, betrayal, and redemptive love.

What lingers after viewing is a portrait of pre-war European society, where personal feelings clash with financial calculus, and decency ultimately prevails. — MovieFinder Editorial
