Talking Picture (The Structure of Film Viewing)

1981 · 15 min

Consisting of four parts: Between the Frames; Seeing Nothing; The Privilege to See; I Am A Viewer / You Are A Viewer. The film demonstrates and discusses the structure of film viewing as an institution: playing/talking myself in the double role of the viewer and the maker at the same time sitting in front of an empty screen and a camera which shoots at my back. It is also a provocative essay on the role of film audience. (Takahiko Iimura)

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Talking Picture (The Structure of Film Viewing) is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A classic from 1981. They don't make them like this anymore — which is exactly why you should watch it. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
