"Les Fredaines de Pierrette" is the collective name of four short films of 20 meters each ("Arrivée de Pierrette et de Pierrot", "Arrivée d'Arlequin", "Suite de la danse", and "Départ d'Arlequin et de Pierrette"), attributed to Alice Guy (although not confirmed in any primary source), in which Columbine resists Pierrette's courting in favor of Harlequin. From July 1901, the series were made available hand-colored.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a classic romantic intrigue, relying on the familiar archetypes of the commedia dell'arte. It explores the shift of affections and playful courtship through the eloquent language of silent-era pantomime and gesture.

What lingers after viewing is the charm of a purely visual narrative, a delicate dance of desire and disappointment told without titles. — MovieFinder Editorial
