7.3 / 10 · TMDB

Eighty-one-year-old Lina Braake loses her home after the owner's death when the building reverts to the bank, and she is forcibly relocated to a retirement home. In this seemingly hopeless new environment, she meets eighty-four-year-old Gustaf. Together, they rediscover an unextinguished zest for life and devise a clever credit fraud scheme to take revenge on the soulless financial institution. Their goal is to fund a house in Sardinia and leave Germany for good. While their coup initially succeeds, the bank eventually tracks Lina down, though her advanced age provides an unexpected legal shield.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Lina Braake is more than a comedy about senior con artists; it's a warm, intelligent manifesto about dignity and resisting the system at any age. The film expertly balances light humor with social drama, avoiding sentimentality.

What lingers after the credits is a genuine admiration for the lead duo, whose energy and ingenuity prove that life doesn't end at retirement. It leaves you with a sense of cheerful rebellion and the belief that justice can be reclaimed with wit and fortitude. — MovieFinder Editorial
