Phantom Youth

An Albanian family exists in isolation on a lakeshore, their world defined by water and silence. The father, a former political prisoner, raises his son far from society, shielding him from the past and outside influence. Their routine of fishing, reading, and sparse conversation is disrupted by the appearance of a stranger on the horizon. This intrusion forces the boy to question his father's lessons for the first time, to peer beyond the familiar shore toward another world—both frightening and alluring—that beckons him.
