Magma

Mark receives a letter from his ex-wife, who moved to Iceland to study volcanoes. It contains no words, only a photograph of a lava field. He drops everything and flies after her, unaware she has been living with another man—a local glacier guide—for a year. Their reunion takes place on the rim of an active crater, where the earth breathes hot steam. The 2025 drama explores not an eruption of emotions, but their slow cooling, like magma turning into cold basalt. The director shows how people become frozen in relationships that can no longer be changed, yet cannot be left behind.
