Beijing Changping Qiliqu Temporary Shelter

2008 · 10 min Documentary

Beijing Changping Qiliqu Temporary Shelter is a shelter that was part of the network of temporary shelters used in China from the early 1950s to accommodate homeless people (the liumang 流氓). Changping Qiliqu shelter was used as a detention center in the 1990s, in particular, to incarcerate recalcitrant Yuanmingyuan artists, including Xu Ruotao. With its cold and soulless images, this video has a latent subversive tone, and a consistent vision of a hostile world.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

Beijing Changping Qiliqu Temporary Shelter is an acquired taste at 0.0/10. We recommend checking the trailer and synopsis before diving in.

Not every film is made for everyone. Read the synopsis, watch the trailer — you'll know right away if it's for you.

A 2008 film from an era before CGI overload, with real performances that still hit hard. Best for: genre fans and those open to something unconventional.
