Lampaansyöjät

1972 · 96 min Comedy
4.8 / 10 · TMDB

Valtteri and Sepe, two ordinary white-collar guys from southern Finland drive up north to implement a plan they've been hatching for months. Because they simply love the taste of lamb, baked "robber-style" in a hole dug under a campfire, they forge their car's number plates and other important documents just to be able to poach sheep grazing on the roadside without getting caught. Lots of man talk around the campfire, aided by lots of booze. The summer may be wet, but the vodka is definitely dry.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take

The film constructs a leisurely, almost documentary-like chronicle of a male escape from routine, relying on the natural humor of situations and campfire conversations. It explores the simple joys and inherent absurdity of a petty rebellion where the main drama revolves around a bottle and an open fire.

What lingers after viewing is a warm, nostalgic, and slightly reckless feel-good comedy, where the atmosphere of camaraderie outweighs any plot. A charming slice of 70s Finnish summer. — MovieFinder Editorial
