I pionieri

Sicily, summer 1990. Two boys, sons of ardent communists, flee their homes with a solemn mission: to resurrect the Pioneers, the Party's once-glorious, now-extinct scout movement. Armed with idealism and red neckerchiefs, they quickly discover their grand plan is out of step with a rapidly changing world. Their quest for ideological purity collides with the sun-drenched reality of island life, leading them through a series of absurd and heartfelt misadventures. Between failed recruitment drives and encounters with perplexed locals, their childhood earnestness is tested by the simple joys and confusing complexities of growing up.
