Azar Nafisi, a literature professor, secretly gathers seven female students in her Tehran living room as Islamic morality squads tighten their grip. Behind drawn curtains, they delve into forbidden Western classics—from Nabokov's 'Lolita' to Austen and Fitzgerald. The pages become a portal, where removing their veils leads to unveiling their minds. Each reading session morphs into quiet rebellion, as the heroines of fiction begin echoing the lives of the women in the room, all navigating the tightrope between political oppression and personal longing.
