In Search of Lost Time

Six-year-old Duàn Ruàn finds herself among thousands of children relocated from overcrowded Shanghai to Inner Mongolia during the 'Three Thousand Orphans' campaign. The girl is taken in by a family of steppe nomads, who give her the new name Naran, meaning 'sun'. Years later, her brother embarks on a journey across the grasslands to find the sister lost in history's whirlwind. Their paths intertwine with the fate of a Mongolian family, where silent love and the harsh laws of the steppe test every bond. The film explores how memory of homeland and acceptance of foreign culture shape identity across decades.
