Cape Farewell
Captain Alexey Smirnov has been piloting the same ferry across the Volga River for thirty years. On the morning of June 15th, he learns the old steamship is to be scrapped. Instead of making his final scheduled crossing, Alexey sets a course for the open sea. This 2026 drama explores themes of a fading era and personal rebellion against the inevitable. The passengers who find themselves aboard — a teacher, a student, a retiree — become unwilling companions on the journey. Their reactions reveal their characters and shared human anxieties. Director Ivan Petrov crafts an intimate story about freedom, choice, and the cost of one's actions. The film is a road movie on water, where the river landscapes serve as a metaphor for life's journey.

🎬 MovieFinder's Take
Ivan Petrov employs long, static shots, inviting the viewer to study the characters' faces and the expanse of water. His camera captures minute details — cracks in the wooden deck, the sky's reflection on the surface, silent conversations held in glances.
Those who appreciate slow, meditative cinema will find a poignant character study here. What lingers is a quiet melancholy and a contemplation of what it means to be the master of one's fate. — MovieFinder Editorial
