The daughter of ski mountaineer Hansjörg Lunger, she grew up surrounded by the mountains and began ski mountaineering in 2002, before competing in her first races the following year in San Martino di Castrozza. Drawn to the world's highest peaks from a young age, she fulfilled her dream of Himalayan climbing by becoming, on May 23, 2010, the youngest woman to reach the summit of Lhotse, at 8,516 meters. On July 26, 2014, she reached the summit of K2, 8,611 meters, an ascent that cemented her reputation in the world of extreme mountaineering and was later captured on film in "Tamara."
