In 1970, he organized the independent screening group , and he has been working on various screening all over the country for more than 50 years. His main literary work “Filmmaking – an introduction to Kojin-eiga” is not only became a reference for independent filmmakers, but also played a establishing the concept of “Kojin-eiga” in Japan. He served as a Professor at Tama Art University (from 2001 to 2017), and jury members at Pia film festival [PFF](from 1979 to 1987).
