The producer of "隠密剣士" ("Hidden Swordsmen"), Yoji Hashimoto, noted, "At first, he lacked skills in fight choreography, but his good physical coordination allowed him to handle it well." His reputation at Toei Kyoto Studio was also positive. Around the autumn of 2003, he was diagnosed with a rare and hard-to-detect form of bile duct cancer, which is known for its difficulty in early detection. He underwent treatment for this condition, but unfortunately, he passed away at 1:50 AM on November 11, 2004, at the age of 58.
